If you find one short code on a carton and another on the product, do not turn them into one longer string or assume either one is automatically the batch code.
Write down where each string appears and copy it exactly. Check the product code and the carton code separately with the correct brand. The location is useful context when a code is unreadable or unsupported.
Different-looking marks can have different roles. A batch-code result alone cannot explain why they differ or settle an authenticity question. Preserve the packaging and ask the brand if the distinction matters.
