A short, neatly printed string can be a genuine production reference and still be outside a checker's coverage. That is a limitation of the available rule, not proof that you typed it incorrectly.
The string has to be matched to the right brand and known format before a date can be interpreted. Pattern-matching a familiar year or month from an unknown code is a guess, not a decode.
We list 2,779 brands but currently decode 96. Showing the gap is intentional: unsupported does not mean fake, expired, or malformed. It means we do not yet have enough evidence for that brand and format.
